Buxton Mill after the 1912 flood
Past Events Information

Here is a link to a Talk by Margaret Bird on the 13th May 2015.

Organised by BNCT, it was entitled 'Here for the Beer'. Margaret eloquently described the activities of the many breweries that were established in Coltishall just prior to and during the years of the Aylsham Navigation.

The Centenary Celebration of the 1912 Flood was held on the 26th August 2012. This flood damaged the Bure Navigation and locks beyond repair.

The two photos below were taken on the day of the 2012 event :-

An Illustrated Talk on Water Mills

A joint illustrated talk was organised with the Aylsham Local History Society on Friday 13th September starting at 7:30pm at Buxton Village Hall.

The subject was water mills, in particular the Gunton Sawmill.

Russell Yeomans from the Gunton Park water powered sawmill gave an excellent presentation about the history and restoration of the sawmill.

BNCT would like to thank everyone involved in the organisation of this talk.

Two Riverside Walks

Two riverside walks have been organised alongside the Aylsham Navigation at Oxnead and Buxton Mills starting at Buxton Railway Station.

The first was at 11am on Sunday the 15th September.

The weather was perfect for this very enjoyable walk led by Peter Baker, Chair of BNCT.

Thanks again to all involved.

The second walk was held at 2pm on Saturday the 21st September. Starting at Buxton Bure Valley Railway car park.

Here are photos of the happy walkers
